Chart: U.S. Borrows 43 Cents of Every Dollar Spent in 2011

Since 2009 the United States has greatly increased its reliance on borrowing to fund government spending. In 2000, the United States federal government saved 13 cents for every dollar it spent while this year White House budget projections show 43 cents of event dollar spent will be borrowed.
